ALTERNATIVES TO VIOLENCE PROJECT / OHIO

“Conflict is a natural part of life.  Violence does not have to be.”

Dear Nonviolent Peacemaker,

The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) trains nonviolence workshop facilitators.  We are preparing to train new facilitators in Ohio.  AVP Ohio, in partnership with AVP Indiana Lead Facilitator colleagues, is planning to offer an 18 hour certificate AVP Basic training workshop for 10 – 20 participants in Cincinnati, at Cincinnati Friends Meeting (8075 Keller Road, near Kenwood Town Center, off Montgomery Road), on the weekend of February 22-24, 2019.  Advanced and Facilitator workshops will be offered on later dates.  If you would like to participate in the upcoming Basic workshop, please register at your earliest convenience on the AVP Indiana website (https://avpindiana.org/registration).  If you are unable to schedule this first series of workshops, but would like to participate in a future series, please ‘reply’ about your interest.  The AVP/OH email is listed on the letterhead above.

Participation cost for the upcoming Basic workshop is on a bargain, introductory, sliding scale of $10 - $50* (*AVP/OH SCALE), to cover administrative expenses.  No one will be turned away for lack of funds, and students may participate for free.  The workshop schedule being planned at this time is Friday, 7:00 – 8:30 pm, Saturday 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, Sunday, 1:00 – 7:30 pm, for program and meals.  If needed, free overnight home hospitality can be provided for travelers.  Additional update information will be provided to the first 20 applicants.  Names of other registrants and interested persons will be placed on a waiting list.

For further information about AVP, please see the attached local brochure, the AVP/USA web site on the letter head, or call Joe Henry at his home telephone number, also on the letter head.

Thank you for your interest in, and work for, Nonviolent Peacemaking.  Please feel free to share this information with others who may be interested.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Peace through Justice and Nonviolence,

‘Just’ Joe (AVP Transformative Adjective Name)
