Convergence: the act of two or more things, such as ideas, paths, or technologies, coming together to form a single point, merge, or become more similar.
From August 14 – 16th, the Youth of Wilmington Yearly Meeting will come together in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee! After July’s Summer Camps in Ohio, the Youth & Young Adult Committee determined it was time for the Ohio Youth to make the journey and visit the Tennessee Youth in their neck of the woods. The retreat will be based in Sevierville, TN, at the Wilderness at the Smokies Resort. They will be renting a “cabin” (just a bit more “high end” than QK cabins), have time to explore the Great Smoky Mountains, enjoy the Soaky Mountain Waterpark, and worship with Lakeway Quaker Meeting on Sunday morning. The goal for the weekend is to strengthen friendships, many just begun at Quaker Knoll, and provide space, time & place, for the young Friends to reflect on their lives and futures. “We learn a lot about God and ourselves by getting to know each other.”
The cost to attend is $180. You can use the QR code on the flyer (pdf for printing here), or contact Ashlyn Stanton-Henry at LakewayMeeting@gmail.com.
This event is planned for young people entering Middle School through High School.
