Quaker Knoll Work Days: March 28 – 29

Work? At Quaker Knoll??? Why, yes!
The Camp Board requests any & all able-bodied persons to join them at Quaker Knoll on Saturday, March 28, beginning around 9 a.m., and on Sunday, March 29, after Worship (as needed). Jay puts in many hours and does a fantastic job, but cleaning (especially “spring cleaning”), fixing, and otherwise maintaining the property is more than one person can do. And then we add to that upgrades & improvements!
So, please consider lending a hand! There are tasks suitable for all skill levels and time commitments. A primary focus will be improving the electric options in the cabins, and hopefully installing some ventilation fans in the ridges. These fans would help not only by preventing the cabins from becoming stifling in July, but also free up outlets and floor space previously taken up with box fans. Other tasks include any finishing touches needed for the full camping season to begin, the aforementioned “spring cleaning” in the House and Lodge, and whatever else Jay puts on our “to do” list!
Jay, who is in North Carolina right now, sent the following text regarding the readiness of the campground before he left: “I got mattresses to cabins and benches out. Lodge swept, chimney open, window unlatched.
Just need water on and maybe if younger ones or able person to pick up sticks around trees. Can put by tree and I can get later. Shutters and doors need stained.” To my knowledge, there are no plans for staining the shutters and doors this weekend, but if someone wants to volunteer (and if the weather cooperates)…
