Wilmington Yearly Meeting Minute Concerning Deportations

On November 8, 2025, at the Wilmington Yearly Meeting Fall Gathering, the following Minute Concerning Deportations, brought forward by the committee on Christian Concerns for Peace & Society,  was APPROVED:

Minute Concerning Deportations
as approved by the Christian Concerns for Peace and Society, October 27,2025
as approved by Wilmington Yearly Meeting Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)
November 8, 2025

We of the Wilmington Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) affirm a divine guidance to treat others with love and respect regardless of where they were born. As witnesses for the beloved community, Wilmington Yearly Meeting strongly opposes the United States government’s policy of mass deportations and ongoing harassment of undocumented immigrants in this country.

We object when our government denies any person due process under the law. It is not only undocumented immigrants with criminal histories of violence or drug dealing who have been subject to deportation. We are concerned that anti-immigrant policies are part of the sad history of prejudice and discrimination in the United States.

In consensus with and support of Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL), we, Wilmington Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, look forward to policies that prioritize migrant family unity and safety, and join with those in support of undocumented immigrant workers and their families for opportunities to obtain lawful status within United States society, including a pathway to citizenship.
