Can You Sew?
Quaker Sewers!
It’s FESTIVAL TIME! From Wilmington, Ohio’s Corn Festival next weekend to Jefferson City, Tennessee’s Bacon & Corn Festival at Mossy Creek on October 3, Wilmington YM Quakers are, plainly, getting festive!
FROM LAKEWAY: “Lakeway Quaker Meeting (Preparatory) developed a Children’s Pop-Up Peace Museum that serves the East Tennessee region with children’s activities, crafts, peace education, and more. On October 3rd, they have been invited to a local festival where they will be sharing about Quaker History and providing activities for kids that help celebrate the contributions of Quakers. They are looking for volunteers to help sew children’s costumes for the event– these will be available for children to try on and take pictures and ask questions about Quaker History. We are most immediately looking for children’s costumes but would be open to adult costumes if possible! From period clothing spanning the 1700s and on, plain Quaker dress, and accessories like hats and bonnets– we are looking for folks with sewing skills to help us put these costumes for a special event.
If you are willing to volunteer or have any questions, please reach out to Ashlyn Stanton-Henry at ashlyndaraestanton@gmail.com”
