FUM Book Groups
Begin this Fall!

This Fall, FUM’s North American ministries program is offering two book discussion groups, one on the book, How (Not) to Speak of God, by Peter Rollins; and the other on The Contemplative Pastor, by Eugene Peterson. Times and dates are still to be determined, based on the availability of persons interested in joining the groups.

How (Not) to Speak of God is an invitation to a deeper faith and understanding of God. Since God is always greater than our capacity to understand God, every statement we can make about God is incomplete and inadequate and communicates only a partial truth. Rollins invites us to look at our individual understandings of God, holding them with integrity, while at the same time making space for other’s perspectives and understandings of God which do not mirror our own. Eugene Peterson’s book, The Contemplative Pastor, is written with pastors and ministers in mind. If you have found yourself immersed in the exigencies of the here and now, unable to find time to focus on the ineffable and the eternal, considering this book might be a good means to refocus your attention and effort toward the real and important work of soul care.
